It is officially 2017… actually it has been 2017 for a few days now! Last year I wanted to dwell on a word for the year. (Well, I wanted to do that in 2015, too, but I forgot my word by the time December came around!)
Anyway, 2016’s word was HYDRATE. Immerse myself in the Word of God and His character and drink more water. I wasn’t perfect, but I remembered the word and what it meant to me for the entire year!! Yay! I also made more intentional strides toward the goal when that word popped into my head.
This year, a few words have popped into focus. FOLLOW-THROUGH.
I’m the girl who gets super hyped up on ideas, dreams, and challenges, only to quit them before they can even take off. I see this as a negative quality in myself. I don’t want my kids to think that quitting something they start is a good or acceptable quality. I want them to see their endeavors through until the end. Nothing lasts forever, but with what my hand finds to do, I am supposed to do it with ALL MY MIGHT. As if I’m working for the Lord. I don’t dare call in to say I’m not coming back to work for the Lord just because I don’t feel like it. That’s just lazy behavior, and what Master rewards laziness? Not mine. So follow-through. I will finish what I start. I will do what I say I’m going to do and be where I say I’m going to be. BUT I will not put on myself more than I can handle, and if I find that I have put too much on my plate at once, I will not hesitate to “phone a friend” and reach out for help. I will give myself (and others) grace, but not at the expense of effort.
My other word is DELIVER.
Here, I will focus on a couple different things. How my Savior has delivered me from the devastating effects of sin. Honestly, I focus on the sacrifice it took for me to be so free every Sunday, but throughout the rest of the week I want to focus on the abounding freedom in Him. And I will radically live like that deliverance matters. I will also focus on delivering “wow” factor service to my customers. I cannot promise life changing results (that I whole heartedly believe in), without helping them through the process. I will deliver. I will be available and attentive. I will deliver my best because I care about them. I care about you.
I will also deliver more posts and follow through with the dreams and visions I have for Radiant Mission. With purposeful prayer, there will be a game plan, and I’ll do my best to put it into realistic practice.
I appreciate your prayers for me as I aim toward these goals this year. I would love to pray for you, too. What word can you think of to dwell on this year? Tell me in the comments or send me a message through the “contact” link. Happy New Year, Friends!
